Percy discovers later that he is a demigod, and is son of the Sea God, Poseidon. He and some people have been chosen to go on a dangerous quest to retrieve a stolen item, the lightning bolt, that is property of Zeus's. Percy is blamed as the thief, because he is the son of Poseidon, and he seems like the most obvious suspect. Even though Percy has no idea what Zeus is talking about, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover have to go solve this mystery, and find out who, is the real lightning thief.
