City of Ashes is the second book of the Mortal Instruments series. This book explains more about family relationships, friends, and trust. In this book, Clary and Jace mainly express their affection for each other, and reveal secrets that sound unreal. Clary has had rough times understanding the origin of where she came from ,and what her family is. Everyone has been telling her different stories about her family, and who she can or can't trust. Jace on the other hand, has been only told one thing, and he believed that for his whole life, until he goes to court, and there, he learns the truth about himself. In this book ,the relationships are huge, secrets that wouldn't have been heard of are spoken, and the truth may hurt many people. Sometimes, the truth may set people free, but on other times, it can trap a person in their own prison forever.
